your
suffocating love
between the sheets
i can't get close
enough

wiping off my lipstick
i taste your mouth...
will you long for me tonight
when you are as distant as
the Milky Way?

making
a bamboo trellis
for morning glories
oh, indigo wind, who will
climb my womanly vines

with no lover tonight
my kimono is loosened
by the summer wind
honeysuckle perfume
caressing my breasts

Winter Cottage
tanbun

Unworldly wind, and dark the midnight forest. So cold the branches click like antlers.
Beyond that, not much to know.

in the black of nothing -

Knowing It's Over

Shadows:
We sit, watching
the day come to an end—
each knowing that we've nothing left
to say.

__________________________

Winter. . .
old men huddle
on the dock — a pungent
odor of whiskey, fish, and lost
chances.

lovers tonight
moon gazing hand in hand
how i envy them
my empty hands can only
brush the beams

without the moon
i could surely live
but without your love
i would be the wind
blowing in no direction
